After the Glow, the Scene, the Stage, the Set: Drumming with Dishes

A big high five to KidFriendly DC for it's glowing review of Drumming with Dishes at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.  Mom was a little weary of taking both of us to a performance like this, but we both LOVED it.  Kane seriously laughed the entire time and I got into the mix -- shaking a box of spaghetti and threatening to rush the "stage" (if you put a line in front of me, I will cross it).  The very kid friendly performance had a big parachute spread out on the floor to serve as "seats" for everyone, which allowed us to get up close and personal to the performers (including a guitarist, which Kane loved).  And although Drumming with Dishes is now over, the play was part of the Arts on the Horizon program, which will have future plays at the Atlas.  So make sure to keep an eye out for upcoming performances -- as we've said before, the Atlas is a great venue for kids and we will definitely be going back.

And having already been to Boogie Babes at the Atlas, we planned ahead and left ourselves time to get some grub at Dangerously Delicious Pies, which is just a few doors down.  We actually tried to go before the performance, but DDP doesn't open until 11.  What, no pie for breakfast?  Fortunately, SOVA was open and mom was able to get properly caffeinated for the show (mom said the espresso was fab, btw).  And we hit up DDP afterwards for a slice of chocolate peanut butter chess and chocolate pecan, which we saved for after din that night.  The PB was seriously disappointing, but the choc pecan was delish.  Not quite as good as Grammie B's, but it would do in a pinch.

Um, yes.  I'll take one of everything.
