Umbrella Beach: From Brigantine, NJ to London, UK

We were all set to spend last week with mom at Nona's house while daddy stuck it out working in the city, when a truly serendipitous chain of events occurred:  daddy had a last minute meeting in London come up; Nona, D-Rock and Uncle Steve (who was visiting in NJ) all graciously agreed to take care of us; mommy found airfare; a friend of a friend in London came through with some Olympic tickets and one of daddy's clients came through with some more.  And before we knew it, Kane and I were at Nona's and mommy and daddy were on their way across the pond for an entire week of Olympic fanfare.

We each had ridiculously indulgent week of fun -- Kane and I spent a lot of time at the beach, but also made a trip to the Ocean City boardwalk, hit up the Brigantine library, picked up some new breakdancing moves, and dined all over town.  Mom and dad, through a variety of inexplicable means, ended up seeing the men's gymnastics finals (with seats IN FRONT of all three princes), Team GB women's soccer beat Brazil, women's beach volleyball (apparently one big party), swimming (including the Lochte/Phelps semifinal battle and the US women win gold in the 4 x 200 relay), and the US men's volleyball team beat Brazil.  They also ate (and imbibed) all over town.  We are collectively detoxing and readjusting today and will be back in the blogging saddle tomorrow!  Thanks to everyone for helping all of us have such a fabulous week!

We spent our last night in Brigantine together and walked home along the beach after a dinner out.  Kane and I are now entirely impossible to keep out of the water.

"night night, beach.  night night, ocean."

D-Rock brought Veg down to join us for a little impromptu evening swim.

yes, it looks like we are trying to go to sleep in the ocean.
but, we were really just pretending to be mermaids.

Mommy still has to sort through all the Olympic pics, but here are a few snapshots of the Olympic "beach."
