New Bathrooms for the Munchkins!

One of the things I love most about our new home is its neutral palette. There is lots of grey and lots of marble. But while those work perfectly with my aesthetic, it seemed a little serious for the kids and their seriously silly personalities. So I knew that I needed to lighten up their rooms a bit. At the same time, I didn't want to make their spaces seem so kiddish that they wouldn't hold up over time. This was especially the case in their bathrooms. I wanted to create fun, bright spaces but still make sure that I could change them easily to grow with the kids. Enter Munchkin's bright and modern bath products -- the perfect way to keep them entertained and both themselves and their bathrooms cleaned up. I think they turned out fabulously!

Kane scored the tub in the new house and he'll stay in there for hours listening to audiobooks. I wanted to include lots of bright color in his digs, with a particular focus on his favorite color green. He's been very into helping make new art to decorate the house, so instead of hanging something permanent, we decided to go with a gallery wall he could change up (although the John W. Golden "Wash Behind Your Ears" art is staying as a constant reminder!).

Munchkin's Super Scoop works perfectly to help clean up all his bath toys and hangs nicely on the tub's glass door (that penny tile sure looks awesome, but nothing suctions to it!), which also doubles as a sort of "dry erase" board for his Bath Crayons. Munchkin's Scrubby + Squeegee come in handy to clean that off! He is also a huge fan of using the Letters and Numbers to work on his spelling. And, just like in the rest of the house, we use the Multi-Cups for just about everything (especially those middle-of-the-night drinking water requests)!

Cami's bathroom was a bit more difficult. To start, her new bathroom has a shower and she has always been a bath girl. Plus, she just has a lot more, well, stuff. Part of it is because she's pretty girly and has a ridiculous collection of hair products and accessories. And part of it is because she just likes having lots of bath toys. I wanted to make it organized, but easily accessible for her.

I started with a fun pennant banner (she LOVES a good jam and I couldn't resist working that in to the decor) and then pulled the colors out from there -- making sure to keep lots of her favorite color pink. Despite the fact that she's had to move on from an actual bath, we kept lots of bath toys (Pour + Strain Whales, Mini Ducks, and Sea Gems are among her favorites) and organized them in a corner of her shower and in a Corner Organizer, which works perfectly on her glass shower door as well. And, not to be outdone by Kane, she likes to use her Bath Crayons and Munchkin's Scrubby + Squeegee for drawing and writing too. She's decided that her shower is special because it's a "steam shower" -- it's not, but we roll with it since she had to give up her tub. All in all, a happy lady.

Thanks Michelle! I love those hooks too -- I hated the thought of putting holes in the wall for hooks that the kids could actually reach now, but that would constantly have to get moved up and up and up with them as they grow!
